Dear Guardians,

We had our Bagel Breakfast last Sunday February 26. Over 60 Guardians attended, and this was the first time we were together in person in 3 years! The rabbi started our event with a prayer and then we had a wonderful (and colorful!) lox and bagel meal prepared and displayed by Nancy Carlton and her crew. The desserts were catered by Jessica Weiner of Beliah’s Bakery, and they were delicious, especially the pecan bars! Thank you to Karen Brown for the logo and letterhead above.

We learned about the State of the Temple from President Stacey. She shared her “3 C’s”, revisited the history of the founding of the Guardians (shout out to Josh Pais), and welcomed Melissa Levy as our new PJTC Executive Director (who was also presented with a nice gift). Next, we all went over to some nearby open floor space and joined hands while the Cantor shared with us her vision for increasing our Jewish spirituality. Under her guidance, we moved closer to each other physically, which was a metaphor for us to also move closer to our own spirituality. It was magical.

We took a break and came back for some Q&A with President Stacey. There was some unexpected drama with our fellow congregant, Jeff Landau, as he stood up to make a plea for members to join our PJTC Ohr Tamid Planned Giving society. I am happy to report that after a few hours of being evaluated at the Huntington ER, Jeff went home in great shape, and he wanted to thank everyone for their care and concern regarding his health.

The next event being planned is a spring cocktail event. This event will be free to all Guardians, and we will also invite some prospective Guardians. The date is still TBD. I am working closely with the Temple to get accurate and up-to-date information on member donations. When people donate, which can be at any time, it might bring some new folks into Guardians, or might increase Guardian levels for members. I want to be on top of this and I want the website to be kept accurate, which requires regular sharing of data between the Temple office and myself.
