December Board Report
During its November 28 meeting, board president Stacey Sharp led an extensive discussion regarding the rabbi search process, including whether to seek an interim rabbi, and displayed Powerpoint slides. A poll was given on the topic, but no results were displayed. Congregants also provided written comments regarding the characteristics they think we should seek in our new permanent rabbi. No motions were made. Next, Treasurer Jack Singer presented his written report, which had been circulated before the meeting. Singer detailed cash flow analysis of our bank accounts, including projections for the next several months, highlighting the need for additional fundraising by mid-2023. On Singer's motion, the board approved a contract with Bottomline Concepts, a management consultant, to assist our shul apply for a grant in the form of Employee Retention Credits, which were part of the federal CARES Act. Also, Sisterhood President Nancy Carlton announced that the Men’s Club and Sisterhood are joining efforts to match contributions from congregants for all youth synagogue programming.
On December 12, the board held a special meeting regarding the rabbi search process. Board president Stacey Sharp described her recent efforts to gather information from the congregation, including numerous “listening sessions,” revealed the results of the survey from the poll offered at the last board meeting, and answered questions posed by congregants and board members. After extensive discussion and debate, the board approved motions to (1) appoint an interim rabbi search committee, and (2) appoint a permanent rabbi search committee. Members of both committees will be appointed by board president Sharp.
