Welcome back Guardians!
We are gathering together as a group for the first time in years and are reviving a tradition that goes back decades, the Guardian Annual Meeting and State of the Temple Bagel Brunch.
Please save the date: Sunday February 26, 2023 from 10 am to 12 noon.
Rabbi Carrier will serve as our Master of Ceremonies and Temple President Stacey Sharp will share up-to-date information about the State of the Temple. We will have a wonderful meal (menu to be determined, but there will be bagels), some other presentations and perhaps some surprises. There will be time for discussion and suggestions, another important Guardian tradition! All Guardian members, whether singles or couples are welcome to attend. Singles are encouraged to bring a guest. Note that the event is adults only. More information and RSVP instructions will be sent to all Guardians soon.
Additionally, I want to inform the Guardians that the roster of names and giving levels has been finalized and is on its way to the printer. The Guardian Plaque in the Temple Lobby will be updated soon.
One more recent development is worth sharing. We received two Guardian level donations from people who are not current Temple members. I called both donors to personally thank them for their donation. The first was from Nehama Jacobs, who was a PJTC member many years ago.
According to Nehama, “even though I am no longer a member of PJTC, I believe that the Temple is important for future generations and I wanted to donate to the Guardians for that reason.”
The second was from Gabriel Halperin, DPM, also a Temple member years ago. He was very grateful to our Temple for helping him obtain HH tickets here on short notice, and he and his wife felt quite welcomed.
I have sent them both letters designating them as “Honorary Guardians” for the current fiscal year.
If you are reading this and you’re not a Guardian, it’s not too late to join us! All that’s required is a minimum donation (or pledge) to the Temple General Fund of $1,000. You’ll be invited to all Guardian events, and you’ll be added to the Guardian page on the Temple web site. Remember that “Guardians are proud of their role in helping sustain the financial viability of our Temple not just for the present but for the future as well.”
