Hello PJTC,

Men’s Club finished up 2021 with a successful series of year end events including the PJTC New Member gathering where we provided the main course and chef’s to prepare it (utilizing the newly purchased barbecue and flat grill) the synagogue‘s Chanukah party (Krispy Kreme donuts for everyone) a Covid-19 update in partnership with Social Hall and Sisterhood and we just concluded another NFL football pool season with some 20+ happy winners. Easiest pool in the world: You purchase a ticket and receive a random allocation. Each week we scour the tickets for the person holding the one with the highest combined score, the second highest and the lowest. You don’t pick teams, you don’t pick scores….

While 2021 was a very busy and successful year for Men’s Club, we are not resting on our laurels. We are here to enlighten and entertain so we can continue to draw new members and participants to help us in our mission to financially assist the Jewish  youth in the community. With that always in mind, stay tuned for upcoming events including the March Madness Basketball pool, our continuing presence at B’nai Mitzvah’s for Yad presentations and additional Zoom presentations.

I’m proud to say with the ongoing support of our members we have made (or are about to make) significant contributions to USY, B’nai Simcha and Federation’s PJ Library. This last contribution was done in recognition of Debbie Singer receiving the Marv Gross Social Justice award for her tireless efforts. Furthermore we recently purchased household items to help the Synagogue's outreach program in welcoming an Afghan family and helping them in their transition to our community.

Please join us as we continue to meet (zoom)  at our monthly at our board meetings, and on the last Wednesday as we gather in person at T. Boyles Tavern for our social gathering we call Hebrews and Burgers.

Lastly, please mark your calendars for two upcoming events. May 15, 2022 will be our Annual Man of the Year and our Bi-annual Lifetime Achievement Awards banquet.Recipients of these awards will be announce in March. June 26, 2022 will be our annual Membership Meeting, election and installation of Officers and Board.

For the Football Pool, here are the winners of the last two weeks: Neil Brown, Dave Lorin, Jim Schaefer (2 wins), Erich Schlecht, Helen Rotenberg (2 wins), and Clark Linstone.  For the rest of us, Better luck next time!
