Summary |
February is a big month for the Dickter family! Lea and Sam Dickter will be celebrating their B'nai Mitzvah together, making the occasion even sweeter for their family and loved ones. Mazel tov, Dickter family!
Lea Dickter
Lea Rachel Dickter, daughter of David and Jana Dickter, will be called to the Torah as a Bat Mitzvah on February 19, 2022 and will share the bimah with her brother Sam, after a long pause for the pandemic. Lea attended B’nai Simcha Preschool before enrolling in the City of Arcadia school system where she is now at the high school in 9th grade.
Lea is a proud member of the Arcadia Marching Band, where she plays clarinet and recently marched in the Rose Parade. She enjoys studying about the environment and put that passion into her Bat Mitzvah project, doing conservation work with Amigos De Los Rios.
She is a voracious reader, vacuuming up young-adult fantasy novels faster than her parents can get them, and bakes tasty cookies and treats for her family and her band mates. On that subject, Lea recently started making creative movies for the iPhone, such as a faux horror film taken from the perspective of a box of cookies as her father is bearing down on them.
Sam Dickter
Samuel Joel Dickter, son of David and Jana Dickter, will be called to the Torah as a Bar Mitzveh on February 19, 2022, sharing the bimah with his sister Lea. Sam attended B’nai Simcha Preschool along with Lea and other classmates of the Kita Zayin class. He is in the 7th grade in the Arcadia school system.
Sam has expanded his repertoire of skills and interests during middle school, where he plays trumpet in the marching band, served a stint as quarterback on the 7th grade football team, and runs the track at the high school with friends as an informal activity.
When not participating in the conservation activities with Lea as part of his Bar Mitzvah project on weekends, he closely follows the sports news, particularly about the Pittsburgh Steelers, where his fandom may have skipped a generation but he has inherited the genetic code from both grandfathers. He also makes time for reading, these days mostly nonfiction, particularly if it’s a book for teen boys that has the words “quantum” or “dark matter” in it.
