Note from Melissa Levy

This High Holy Day season, PJTC strove to engage and make meaning with all who wished to participate, regardless of their ability or inclination to come through our physical doors. And what an adventure we had together! Hundreds of you came in person for services, while hundreds more chose to pray with us online. Over 250 people joined us at the Arboretum for Tashlich and family services. In addition to our annual meal together in PJTC's sukkah, USY built sukkot for congregants who never had one before, and these congregants then hosted sukkot potluck meals for over 100 congregants of all ages and backgrounds across the San Gabriel Valley, each able to find a meal in their own neighborhood. Most recently, we capped off the High Holy Day season with a huge Simchat Torah Party on Katz Terrace. Wonderful new ideas came from this difficult hand we've all been dealt. I'm so proud of the way this community has banded together to continue to pray and connect. Thank you to the countless volunteers who helped make this happen.

I'm thrilled to welcome our many new members to the PJTC community, and want to encourage you to welcome them, too. That is why I ask you to save the date: November 13, at 6pm for our Family Havdalah Honoring New Members. This outdoor event will have activities for all ages--bounce houses, socially-distanced art projects courtesy of our Judaism in the Home initiative, free dinner courtesy of Sisterhood and Men's Club, and opportunity for meeting and greeting.

Lastly, (and I can't believe I'm typing this right now) Hanukkah is very early this year! Part of the plan is neighborhood candlelighting in congregant backyards--bringing each pocket of community together to celebrate and get to know others in their neighborhood, similar to Sukkot. Would YOU like to host? Please email me at melissa@pjtc.net to sign up!
