Sisterhood: Prep a Meal of Love

Your Sisterhood is considering participating in a Ronald McDonald House program “Prep a Meal of Love.”  In order to do so, though, we need a volunteer or two to provide the necessary leadership, oversight and recruitment of worker bees.

Since opening in 2004, Ronald McDonald House Pasadena has provided comfort, care, and support with overnight stays to families with critically ill children being hospitalized nearby. The vision of the organizations is to create a community where children and their families embrace life and healing with a sense of hope, enthusiasm, courage, and joy by keeping families close to each other and the care they need.

Families at Ronald McDonald House Pasadena often stay at the hospital for long hours every day. This program insures that those families will always have access to a home-cooked meal. Up to four volunteers, scheduled in advance for a Tuesday or Thursday between 2:00 and 4:00 p.m., choose a recipe from the Meal of Love Recipe Book, bring all the ingredients (paid for by the volunteers and/or Sisterhood), prepare the meal (16 servings) in the dedicated Volunteer Kitchen, and then package it up for families to enjoy whenever they return from the hospital.

What a wonderful way for Sisterhood members to provide Tzedakah, charitable outreach, in our community! If this volunteer activity interests you (in a leadership or worker bee capacity) or if you have any questions, contact Nancy Carlton at (626) 798-5920 or iamyou082@aol.com.
