The PJTC Men’s Club year is coming a close and with that it’s time for me to gratefully thank and acknowledge the members of the 2020-21 Board and introduce the proposed slate of officers for 2021-22.
The pandemic brought challenges for everyone but it gave Men’s Club a chance to explore meaningful ways of reaching out and connecting with our community more extensively than ever before. Where in the past we typically had 4 gatherings in a fiscal year, this year we gathered virtually close to a dozen times, presenting programs and topics of interest, partnering with the PJTC Social Hall and the Jewish Federation and sharing moments of laughter and hours of educational and informative sessions. While appearing seamless, it wasn’t...but it was all made possible with the hard work and dedication of our Board of Directors with a special thank you to our VP of Programs, Jack Singer.
Notably absent in our upcoming slate is the “retirement” of our treasurer, Bud Slotky. Bud is a retired CPA who was an accounting instructor at Bradley University, a partner in a Chicago area CPA firm, and a senior vice president of the mutual fund services division of U.S. Bancorp. In addition, he served as Chief Compliance Officer to several mutual fund complexes and managed a team of compliance officers. Since he retired in 2014, Bud has served on the boards of several non-profits including PJTC where he has served as our treasurer. Our budgets and books have never been in better hands. We are grateful for his dedication.
Also absent from the slate is Brian Mark. Brian has been a member of PJTC for decades and as he states he’s led three lives: teaching English literature at the college level, becoming a Certified Financial Planner, with an emphasis in college preparation and planning and then, in retirement, becoming a stone sculptor. An award winning, accomplished sculptor at that!
Thank you, Bud and Brian, your participation has been greatly appreciated.
With that, here is the proposed slate for 2021-22.
President: Fred Rotenberg
VP Programs: Jack Singer
VP Membership: Stu Miller
VP Communications: Lou Friedman
Secretary: Steven Roth
Treasurer: Andy Schwartz
Past President.: Erich Schlecht
Directors: Josh Pais, Jon Weisz, Seth Cohen, Sean Surfas, David Lorin, Ira Blitz and Ben Broudy
All PJTC Men’s Club Members will have the opportunity to vote at out annual meeting on Sunday June 27, 2021. As of this writing we are hopeful that this will be the first “in person” gathering in over 15 months. Stay tuned.
Membership information for the 2021-22 year will be mailed/emailed to you soon. Please help us continue to support the toddler through teen programs we support by joining.
Shalom,
Fred Rotenberg
