Sophia Lisette Culver will be called to the Torah as a bat mitzvah on May 1, 2021. Sophia is the daughter of Mike and Julie Culver, and the sister of Zacky Culver. She is a student at High Point Academy where she is currently in 8th grade, and next year, she will be attending La Salle College Preparatory for high school. Sophia enjoys traveling, skiing, and spending as much time as possible with friends. For her mitzvah project, she has mentored younger kids by tutoring and supervising in an after-school program at Norma Coombs elementary school, teaching skills to Girl Scouts as a Program Aid at Camp Mariposa, and serving as a Counselor in Training at High Point Academy where she taught entering kindergarteners the skills they will need in elementary school. She installed a “free little library” at Norma Coombs to encourage reading among elementary school students. Sophia has made wonderful friendships in her b’nai mitzvah class and she is very excited for her bat mitzvah day!
Hello PJTC Community,
My name is Gabriel Danon, and I am becoming a Bar Mitzvah on April 24, 2021. For my mitzvah project, I am teaming up with the Pasadena Humane Society to collect items that will be used to provide comfort to the companion animals they serve.
Pasadena Humane is a donor-supported nonprofit organization that provides animal care and services for homeless and owned animals in the Greater Los Angeles Area. For more than 117 years they have provided compassionate care for all animals through lifesaving programs and services to the community that support the human-animal bond and keep our furry companions healthy and safe.
I will be collecting gently, used or new blankets, new pet toys, and treats from 4-5-2021 to 6-5-2021. If you are able to donate any of these items, there will be a box at the front door of PJTC. I can also arrange to pick up items for those unable to use the drop off box. Please contact me at the following email: cadanon@sbcglobal.net or sdanon25@gmail.com .
In addition, Pasadena Humane Society does accept monetary donations at the following site: https://give.pasadneahumane.org/give/264243/#!/donation/checkout .
Our community has a long tradition of treating all life as special and unique. Please join me in providing the companion animals in our community with some comfort during often difficult times in their lives.
Thank you all!
Gabriel Danon
