Summary |
Sisterhood’s on-line Artisan Fair will continue to provide an opportunity for shopping safely from the comfort of your home and support some of Sisterhood’s favorite local artisans. New artists will be added on an on-going basis in an effort to continue building our new gift shop.
Although on hiatus for the last many months, Sisterhood is gearing up its Caring Community Outreach program, a way to support and connect with congregants in need of some tender care and attention (i.e. home from a stay in the hospital, a new baby, dealing with an illness). Typically, we will deliver chicken soup, challah and a sweet. If you are aware of someone who could use some
comfort, cheer and connection, please let me know.
Given the current pandemic situation and our inability to gather together in person, this year’s Sisterhood Hamentashen Bake has been cancelled. Typically, we gather to bake hamentashen for the Megillah reading, LBSRS students and the
carnival, none of which will be in-person activities this year.
With the downsizing of the Women’s Room programming, activities and services and, in particular, our inability to prepare home-made lunches at this time, Sisterhood board members voted to donate $1,000.00 in support of hot lunch service to the homeless women served by the Women’s Room. This donation is being made in memory of Harold Grater, father of Rabbi Joshua Levine-Grater.
Sisterhood board members also voted to donate up to $500.00 in products (i.e. bottled water, snacks, lotion) that will be placed in 27 home-made quilted baskets created and donated by long-time Sisterhood friend Carol Mills. These baskets will be gifted to covid night nursing staff at the Huntington Hospital as a small way of showing our appreciation for their continued efforts, long hours and hard work.
Open to all Sisterhood members, join us for our upcoming Sisterhood Board Meeting on Monday, February 1 at 7:30 p.m. via Zoom in the comfort of your own home. I hope to welcome you as a continuing or new member of Sisterhood this year. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact me at (626) 798-5920 or iamyou082@aol.com.
